Belvidere North Receives $1 Million Donation for Sports Stadium Class of 1949 graduate and former football standout Milt Brown has pledged $1 million to the Belvidere School District for the construction of a sports stadium at Belvidere North High School.  Varsity Head Coach Curt Tobin received the phone call and generous offer last week from Mr. Brown. Milt Brown has deep roots in Boone County.  His great-grandfather bought farmland north of Caledonia in the 1850's; that is where Milt was raised and he continues to own that property today.  He was an outstanding student and athlete at Belvidere High School, and he has considered that a memorable and rewarding experience.

He was also a member of the Board of Education of School District #100 from 1961 to 1964 and continues to demonstrate the value that he placed on good education and educational facilities.

Milt Brown played end for the undefeated 1947 Belvidere Bucs.  On the 60th anniversary of the team's perfect season, players were honored during halftime of the Bucs v. Blue Thunder game this past fall and were presented with a trophy and individual medals.  Mr. Brown traveled from his home in Arizona to participate in this recognition ceremony.  Milt has indicated he is most pleased to be able to give back to this community, and it is his belief and hope this athletic facility will benefit young people for several generations.
