BCMS cross country sends runners to state

Two individuals and 1 team advance

Last weekend boys and girls from the Belvidere Central Middle School cross country team traveled to Sterling to compete at sectionals.  The girls placed 4th overall, missing state qualifying by 14 points.  Taeya Houzenga and Stephanie Robles qualified individually and will advance.  Taeya placed 4th overall beating the conference champion, and Stephanie placed 16th.
The boys' team placed 2nd behind Sterling, which qualifies the entire team for state.  Eryk Yunk placed 1st among 84 of the area's top runners with a winning margin of 33 seconds.  Other finishes include:  Max Vittore - 6th place, Jake Martocci - 11th place, Alec Scott - 21st place, Jared Ellingson - 26th place, Austin Kroos - 30th place, and Austin Harnois - 38th place.
Congratulations all and good luck down state!
10-25-11 Update:  Last weekend the boys battled at the state cross country meet, taking 9th overall.  Finishing last year in 17th place, this is a major improvement in a single season and a great feat to finish in the top 10.
Individually, Eryk Yunk fought with his nemesis from track last year to take first place overall with a time of 10:15.  This is the 3rd best time in IESA history.  He finished the season last year in 11th place.
As a team, the boys all ran their best times of the year to put together a top 10 finish.
Eryk Yunk - 10:15
Max Vittore - 11:20
Jake Martocci - 11:35
Alec Scott - 11:41
Austin Kroos - 12:16
Jared Ellingson - 12:32
Austin Harnois - 12:54
For the girls, Taeya and Stephanie ran hard and finished in the top quarter for the day.
Stephanie Robles - 12:39
Taeya Houzenga - 12:54
Congrats everyone on an outstanding season!
