District seeks input on possible sales tax referendum

In an effort to provide tax relief to property owners while remaining fiscally responsible, this November the Belvidere School District may ask voters to approve a countywide 1 percent sales tax increase.  Revenue generated from the increased sales tax would be used to pay outstanding bonds, or debt, which is typically paid for by property taxes.  Shifting the source of funds means the district would decrease the amount levied against properties.
As the Board of Education considers whether or not to place the question on an upcoming ballot, please take a moment to share your thoughts by completing a 2-minute survey.
The survey will remain open until 10 p.m. on July 11.
We value your input and thank you in advance for taking the time to complete the survey.
