Washington Academy is the district's only STEM school, which focuses on science, technology, engineering, and math. The school is open to students in the Washington attendance area as well as students in the district entering kindergarten through 7th grade next school year. Students not within the Washington attendance area are accepted based on the number of seats available and the date/time their application is received. Transportation is not provided to students outside Washington's boundaries.
The 2012-2013 application window for incoming kindergarten through 7th graders is fast approaching. In order to provide parents with more information, Washington Academy will host two parent forums: January 26 from 6 to 6:45 p.m. and February 1 from 2:45 to 3:30 p.m. There will be a presentation about the academy and a tour of the building. These meetings are for families not currently attending Washington Academy.
Parents who are interested in sending their child to the academy for the 2012-2013 school year must fill out an application which can be downloaded from the district's website beginning February 17. Applications must be dropped off in the main office at Washington Academy beginning February 21. Parents will receive official notification indicating whether or not their child has been accepted later this spring.
