| Principal's Letter |
Dear Parents,
It is my pleasure to be the principal of
Seth Whitman Elementary School. On behalf of the faculty,
I would like to extend an invitation to visit us on our official
website for District #100 and to come see us in person whenever
possible. This site will enable you to link with other
schools and facilities within District #100 as well as know the
resources that are available to all District 100 residents.
At Seth Whitman, we
strive for excellence. The staff's goal is to meet the
educational needs of all students. We understand that
educating your child takes teamwork. To insure educational
success for your child, it is important that parents and faculty
work together to keep lines of communication open and strong.
Parent/teacher
conferences, direct contacts, notes home, assignment books, voice
mail, work folders, and the monthly newsletter/calendar are just a
few things that you can expect from teachers at Seth Whitman
School to try to keep parents informed about school activities.
Parents, likewise, are encouraged to initiate their own contacts
whenever they feel the need to discuss their child's progress.
Seth Whitman School is your school, and I invite you to become
involved in your child's educational progress.
Parents are encouraged to
become involved in the school's Parent-Teacher Organization and to
volunteer their time during field trips, the annual fun fair and
other school activities. The PTO is an important way to
network with other parents, and one of the few opportunities that
you can get involved in decisions involving your child's
education.
Sincerely,
Cindy Connor

~ The Learning Center ~
The Seth Whitman
Learning Center includes
more than 9,000 titles in its library collection.
We are pleased to say that the number of
books has grown steadily since school
began because of donations by businesses
and other individual members of the school
community. In addition to this, the Learning
Center has space for 30 laptop computers
and 5 desktop computers which are used to
help students make books selections. The
personnel of the Learning Center make it a
goal to take advantage of available
technology and resources to help give depth
and richness to the many topics that are
studied in the individual classrooms. |
