Thunder is usually associated with lightning, which together creates energy and excitement. These emotions and feelings played into the development of the “Blue Thunder” Mascot. Navy blue, Belvidere North’s primary color, creates the backdrop to a storm. The lightning bolt captures the sense of power, power of education and the power of competitiveness. The vegas gold along with the scarlet red ring around the entire design bring together the school’s three colors.

The horse, with the lightning bolt across the forehead, is the selection of the eighth through eleventh grade student body. Blue Thunder will be the rallying cry of our athletic teams and will forge within the student body a sense of school spirit. It will be this school spirit that will result in a rolling thunder of blue across all areas of competition and leave a memorable experience in the graduates of Belvidere North High.
