 Monarch Award:

  The K, 1, 2 students participated in the Illinois Monarch Award program.  The students were read 17 of the 20 nominees and then voted on their favorite.  Their votes were

 sent to be tallied with the rest of the state.  781 schools participated with over 131,000 student votes.  For more information go to www.islma.org/monarch.htm.

Rebecca Caudill:

  The 4th and 5th grade students were introduced to the Rebecca Caudill Young Reader’s Book Award earlier this year.  This award is given to the author based on student

 votes in grades 4-8.  Participating students voted at the end of February.  697 schools participated with 38,340 student votes.  For more information and 2009 nominees go to www.rcyrba.org .
