Our School History

Welcome to Caledonia Elementary School. Caledonia School is located just off Caledonia Road at 2311 Randolph Street in Caledonia, Illinois. This location is also approximately one-half mile south of Route 173.

The present Caledonia School was initially erected in 1975 to house 350 students. With the ensuing growth to Boone County an addition was built to raise the capacity to 750 students. The addition opened in the fall of 1995. With it’s addition, Caledonia is a beautiful, modern, carpeted building. It contains several classrooms at every grade level K-5, two gyms, a cafeteria and kitchen, a large learning center, a computer lab, and additional classroom space used for Reading Improvement, Gifted, and LD Resource. The building presently holds 635 students and 60 plus staff and volunteers.

New parents will find Caledonia has an active Parent Teacher Organization and a very supportive parent group. Our staff works with students in a very positive manner, yet has high expectations for students in the areas of academics and social behavior. As our mission statement in the student handbook states, "The focus of our educational program is the welfare and the maximum development of each individual. All students should have an opportunity to learn."
