BELVIDERE – During the 2017-2018 school year, Belvidere School District 100 engaged in a 10-year demographic study with Davis Demographics. The results of the study were presented to the school board in the spring of 2018.
Different scenarios with Davis Demographics were reviewed in order to present them to the school board. Those scenarios will be presented on the evening of Monday, November 19. CLICK HERE to review these scenarios. The primary purpose of these boundary shifts is to relieve enrollment pressure at Meehan Elementary, as well as better utilization of space at Caledonia Elementary.
It is important to note that Monday's discussion will not include any recommendation. A recommendation will come likely in February 2019. The release of these scenarios is intended to serve the following purposes:
Provide transparency to the district’s boundary review process as a result of the recent demographic study.
Initiate an opportunity for stakeholders to be involved by providing feedback to the district during the upcoming months of further study.
While questions are expected to come as a result of these boundary shift scenarios, the hope is that being open about this stage of the process will help District 100 leadership better understand concerns before making a final recommendation.
Forums will be held at five schools for staff members and also at four schools for parents and community members to hear about the scenarios and provide feedback. The schedule for those forums can be found here.
In addition, feedback can be given after reviewing the scenarios through this form; results from those submissions will be shared with the school board.
