BELVIDERE, IL – In collaboration with Hope for Haitians, a Rockford based foundation, and Food for the Poor, a charity based in Florida, Belvidere School District donated a surplus of school furniture to the country of Haiti.

Two shipping containers were loaded up with over 500 desks, chairs and tables on Thursday from Belvidere South Middle School.

Developing countries such as Haiti can lack the basic educational equipment such as desks, tables, and chairs to accommodate their students. School Superintendent Dan Woestman says the district is excited to be involved with this project. Student-Athletes from the Belvidere Bucs football team and from the Blue Thunder basketball team volunteered to help load items into the containers.
