On August 25, 2017, Hurricane Harvey made landfall in southeast Texas. Five days later it stopped raining.  

Crosby, Texas is about 25 miles outside of Houston.  They received over 25" of rain over the course of those five days, leading to devastating flooding. Crosby Middle School is a school that is much like the middle schools in District 100.  They have kids in need and our community can help. Ben Commare, the principal of Belvidere South Middle School, has been in contact with the principal of Crosby Middle School and has started relief efforts here in Belvidere.  Belvidere South Middle School and Belvidere Central Middle School are holding a clothing drive and/or financial donations through next Friday (9/22).   Items will be collected in the CMS and SMS offices.  

The children of Crosby Middle School need the following items:

  • Undergarments for both boys and girls (middle school aged) 
  • Jeans for boys 
  • Plain T-shirt’s that could be worn for girls or boys 
  • Socks (boys/girls) 
  • Lightweight jackets/hoodies 
  • Hygiene items (deodorant, body spray, tampons, pads, toothbrush/paste, etc.) 
  • WalMart Gift Cards (For Food)

The first shipment will be sent this Friday with whatever can be collect by then to help their students as soon as possible.  The second shipment will go out at the end of next week.
