Welcome to
Encore Art Class. I am looking forward to
seeing you all throughout the year. I have many different
projects planned for you to produce, study, critique, and
explore. I believe that Art has educational value for all
students and I hope you not only learn something about Art,
but about yourself and other cultures along the way.
I attended Washington Elementary School, Belvidere Junior High
School, and graduated from Belvidere High School. I attended
Rock Valley College, Rockford College, and Graduated from
Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science in Art
Education. I recently graduated with my Masters of Teaching
and Leadership from St. Xavier University, Chicago
Illinois. My degree allows me to teach students grades K-12.
Depending upon what grade level you are in you will be
studying a host of different art periods and artists. These
may include but not be limited to; Palaeolithic Art,Lascaux
Cave Art, Pre-Columbian Art, Oceanic Art, Egyptian Art,
Archaic Greek and Etruscan Art, Medieval and Early Renaissance
Art, Leonardo da Vinci, Michaelangelo, Raphael, Rembrandt,
Islamic Art,Japanese Art, French Impressionism, Manet, Monet,
Renoir, Degas and Seurat, Post-Impressionism, Cezanne and Van
Gogh, Expressionism, Munch, Cubism, Braque and Picasso,
and Fauvism, Futurism, Surrealism, Dali, Magritte, Miro, and
Escher, Abstract Art, Mondrian, Kinetic and Op Art, Vasarely,
and Abstract Expressionism, O'Keefe, and Alexandra Nechita.
We will cover some of the Elements of Design; shape, color,
line, space, texture, value, and form during our classes. We
will also cover some of the Principles of Design; contrast,
rhythm, unity, emphasis, pattern, movement, and balance.
We will sculpt, paint, draw, repouse, work with clay, use the
internet to explore artists and art history, and explore other
medias throughout this class. All materials are provided, but
I strongly suggest you bring your own markers and colored
pencils to class.
I feel it is a privilege to come to work everyday and be a
part of your growth and creativity as you explore the world of
art. It is my hope that you find enjoyment and gain knowledge
while exploring this class.
