Mr. Re's class received a hands on genetics lesson with Ms. Daringer and her family of chickens. Ms. Daringer described the traits of the rooster and the hen
before
she introduced them to the students one at a time. Students were asked to make predictions about the baby's genetic traits before Ms. Daringer brought
her out.
Students were able to examine
the difference of an egg without a yolk compared to a normal egg. Students also learned that the color of a chickens eggs
are
determined by the color of the hen's earlobes not the color of thier feathers.
