Eighth grade social studies is the continuation of the seventh
grade curriculum. The time period covered is from
Reconstruction to the present. Some of the
topics covered during the year include the American West,
Industrial Era, World War I, Great Depression, World War II,
Cold War, Civil Rights Era, and the Reagan years. Students
will work on note taking, using and understanding the social
studies vocabulary, reading comprehension, and essay writing.
Thematic projects using primary sources will be offered
at various times during the year. Some examples of thematic
projects include using the computer lab to work on Web quests,
a research paper, and the Family History project.
