K-5 ELA Curriculum Review Team Update

Our district has a team of teachers and administrators who are working together to review our elementary reading curriculum. Our goal is to create a plan that will work well for all students from kindergarten to 5th grade in our school district. We have been working on our vision, reading the latest research, and following guidelines from the Illinois State Board of Education to design a plan for teaching literacy in District 100. By using a detailed and research-based way of teaching English language arts, we help all our students develop skills they need for reading, writing, speaking, and listening. This will help them learn throughout their lives, become creative problem solvers, and make positive contributions to our community.
