Join the Middle School Bands!

Joining the band is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Studies show that band members demonstrate higher levels of self-discipline, problem solving, and social skills. Additionally, students who join band average higher scores on college entrance exams. Joining the band is a simple process.

Instrument Trials/Sign Up Night: On Wednesday March 19th we will have an open house from 6:30 - 8:30 pm at the BHS PAC, we will be hosting an all district instrument sign up night for all interested incoming 6th grade and interested incoming 7th grade band students. On this night, we will be able to discuss what band is all about, demonstrate instruments, and help your child select an instrument of their choosing. STUDENTS INTERESTED IN PERCUSSION WILL PARTICIPATE IN A SHORT AUDITION. Percussion class has limited spaces, so only a select group of students will be chosen based on audition results. Students not chosen will be offered a space in their alternate choice instrument class.

Getting Signed Up for Band: The band directors will take note of your student’s chosen instrument at this sign up night, and we will ensure that your student is enrolled in the correct band class.

Ordering Your Instrument and Method Book: Families will be given the opportunity to order their student’s instrument and method book at the sign up night in March. Our music store, Voigt Music Center, will be available for questions and to walk you through the ordering process. Orders can be placed on this night, or additional information can be provided to order the instrument at another time. Additional materials for each instrument may also be purchased at this time. Any students who will require a provided instrument can speak to the band directors during this event in order to obtain a school rental instrument. Voigt will be available to explain the Rent-to-Own process on each instrument.
