Board of Education

The Belvidere School District is governed by a seven member Board of Education consisting of four members from Belvidere Township and three members from the remaining townships. All board members are non-paid, elected officials who serve four-year terms. The school board election is nonpartisan, and candidates do not run under political party affiliations.

Ensure Financial Responsibility

Set annual goals that are aligned with the comprehensive plan.
Implement a collaborative comprehensive planning process including regular reviews.
Develop a financial plan that anticipates both short and long-term needs.
Formulate a master facilities plan conducive to teaching and learning.
Develop and adhere to project priorities, as well as student and staff safety issues.

Communicate Clearly

Act with Integrity

Never use board positions for improper benefit to self or others.
Proactively avoid conflicts of interest.
Recognize the absence of authority outside of the collective board.
Respect the role, authority and input of the superintendent.
